CDL HOLDERS ALERT!
NEW RULES EFFECTIVE 10/1/05 CAN RUIN
YOUR CAREER!
The federal government has mandated
that states adopt new rules regarding OWI-DUI cases and commercial
driver's licenses. Wisconsin instituted the new rules effective
10/1/05. If you are a commercial driver and your are charged
with OWI-DUI these rules can cost you your career. Each case
must be individually analyzed, of course. But some of the
harsh provisions are:
- One year to life CDL revocation for
an alcohol or drug related driving offense, even if it occurred
in a private vehicle.
- CDL Occupational permits are abolished.
- Effective 10/1/05, existing CDL occupational
permits are cancelled.
- The above applies even to administrative
suspensions.
If you are a commercial driver facing
an OWI DUI, you need legal help immediately.
The ten-day time limit to challenge an administrative suspension
or a refusal allegation may apply to you.
